It's important to know your health coverage options. Let Tropical Health Insurance provide you with some clarity on your options, and help you choose the insurance coverage that best meets the needs and budget of you and your family.
Open Enrollment for ACA health coverage begins on November 1st of each year, and runs until January 15th. This time period is an excellent time to review the health insurance plan that you currently have, and determine if it is still meeting you and your family's needs.
One option you have when shopping for a new insurance plan, is to complete a new application for insurance. Before doing so, I highly suggest reviewing your current plan to see if there are any changes to your current coverage or pricing. That way you can make an informed decision when it comes to switching.
During the open enrollment period, you are able to get accurate and up to date pricing info of the current plans. One downfall of open enrollment is that there is no way for you to ask questions or run through medical scenarios on your own. In order to get the best knowledge and recommendations for which ACA plan is right for you, contact Tropical Health Insurance to work with a dedicated, experienced health insurance agent to discuss what coverage options best fit your needs.
Open Enrollment for health insurance is the only time you can enroll in coverage unless you have has a qualifying event (discussed below). Those who enroll in coverage between the dates of December 16 and January 15 will be covered on February 1st.
Something to note is the changing of policies. Signing up at the end of open enrollment season has the potential to leave you without health insurance until your new policy takes effect. This will be determined by your current policy restrictions and end date.
The Marketplace deadline to enroll in coverage cuts off on January 15th. Once open enrollment for insurance has ended, you can not apply for coverage until the NEXT open enrollment, unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
